Havit Privacy Policy
Effective September 6, 2026
Havit is a habit and task journal created by Matthew McCarthy. This policy covers the Havit iPhone and iPad app and its marketing, support, and privacy pages on matthewmccarthy.com.
Your tasks stay on your device
Havit stores task names, notes, schedules, colors, completion history, and preferences locally. Its widgets access the same local journal through a shared app container on your device. Havit does not require an account and does not send your journal to a developer-operated server. It currently does not sync journals between devices. Apple device backups may include app data, depending on your settings.
Optional dictation and notifications
If you choose to dictate a task name, Havit requests microphone and speech-recognition permission. It uses Apple’s speech-recognition service, requiring on-device recognition when supported. When on-device recognition is unavailable, audio may be processed by Apple’s servers. Havit does not upload recordings to its own servers. Recognized text becomes part of the task you save. You can type instead and revoke permissions in system Settings. If you allow notifications, Havit can schedule local notifications, including a trial reminder; notification permission can also be changed in Settings.
Purchases and diagnostics
Apple processes Havit Pro purchases and subscriptions. Havit uses StoreKit transaction and entitlement information, such as product, purchase, and expiration information, to unlock features and restore purchases. Matthew does not receive your payment card details. Apple may provide developers with aggregate App Store reports and diagnostics, depending on Apple’s services and your sharing settings. Havit does not include third-party advertising or analytics SDKs, sell personal information, or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Support messages and this website
When you use the support form, you provide an email address and message, and may provide your name, device and operating-system details, app version, and issue category. These details are sent to Matthew McCarthy by email through Resend and the receiving email provider to answer your request and investigate problems. Please do not include sensitive journal content unless necessary. The website is hosted on Vercel, which may process technical request information, such as IP address, browser details, requested page, and time, to deliver and secure the site. No advertising trackers are added to these Havit pages.
How information is used and shared
Information you send is used to provide support, troubleshoot the app, respond to privacy requests, and protect the website from abuse. Service providers process information needed to deliver hosting and email. Information may also be disclosed when required by law or necessary to protect legal rights and security. Where applicable law requires a legal basis, support processing is based on responding to your request and legitimate interests in operating and improving the service; optional permissions are your choice, and legally required disclosures are based on legal obligations.
Retention and deletion
Your local journal remains until you delete its data or remove the app; archived tasks remain stored. Because app widgets share local storage and Apple backups may retain copies, uninstalling should not be treated as deletion of every backup. Manage backups through Apple’s settings. Support correspondence is kept only as long as reasonably needed to resolve requests, maintain useful troubleshooting records, and meet legal obligations. You can request deletion of support correspondence by contacting Matthew. Deleting app data does not cancel an Apple subscription.
Your privacy choices
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of personal information you have sent, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent where relevant, or complain to a privacy regulator. Contact Matthew using the details below to exercise these rights. Reasonable verification may be needed. Matthew cannot remotely access or retrieve your locally stored journal.
Children
Havit does not knowingly collect children’s personal information through its support service. A parent or guardian who believes a child has submitted personal information can contact Matthew to request its deletion. Local task tracking does not require submitting personal information to Matthew.
Security and international processing
Reasonable measures are used to protect support information, but no storage or transmission system is completely secure. Website and email providers may process information in the United States and other countries where they operate, subject to applicable safeguards and their privacy practices.
Changes to this policy
Updates will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Material changes will be communicated here or in the app as appropriate.
